I took some of our older Boy Scouts and their dads on the three day-two night trip offered by Lost Paddle Rafting and it was a great experience. We started in Salida and went through the Royal Gorge. The staff are quite knowledgeable and easy to work with in setting up the trip and identifying what you need. I felt that our guides were quite good and made the trip for all of us a great experience. Out of the 13 people in our group only five had previous experience rafting, but our guides pulled us together. Make sure to bring quick dry shorts (or a swim suit) as well as a quick dry shirt and water shoes or sandals for the river. Bring a change of clothes at night so that your river clothes can finish drying. Make sure to bring a water proof camera, water bottles and a small dry bag for things you want to take on the raft. Make sure all of them have a carabiner attached so you can keep them in the boat.
